Lost in Space
(June 08, 2008) |
|
This game is just about playable - but as a space combat flight sim it falls down badly because of the cumbersome control system. To manoeuvre your spacecraft you have to use the mouse - this means moving it around,
requiring a fairly large mousemat! Luckily I have a cordless mouse so such movement is feasible - what it would be like trying to do it on the end of a cable I shudder to think. This problem would have been avoided if
Paradox had built in a Joystick option - hardly revolutionary in a flight sim! Also, on my PC it takes ages to load - but that may be because it really needs a higher spec PC. Technical support appears to be non-existent and requires going to the Paradox website- only to find that it does not respond to any Support queries.
My advice is, before you buy check out the demo or wait until the price drops to bargain basement! |

great game but no joystick support?!

Overall the game is good. Great graphics, good gameplay and enough story line and cutomisation of your ships to keep you interested. All in all a good Combat space sim. EXCEPT....who on earth produces a combat space sim that will not allow use of a joystick? Using the mouse works ok but for a purist who likes to feel like I'm actually flying something rather than playing a FPS I felt really let down. |

I downloaded the demo ahes ago and havent really got off it. I know what you will probably saying? its another "freelancer" or "DarkStar One" and to be honest your probably right. But if you liked those you'll love this game. The FMV's are good and if you have a high end PC the graphics glide. I have Quad Core Extreme with SLI GeFore 8800GTX and the graphics dont faulter!. Lots of variants and you can even assemble you own weapons, armour, engines, hull, missiles and even special devices. Definately worth getting if you love Space Flight Sim's!! |
