Could do better
(October 03, 2008) |
|
Purchased shortly after release having played WOW for last 2 1/2 years. Whilst it is relatively new there are in my view a few areas which are in dire need of improvement: graphics are really below par i compared wow and war simultaneously and the extremely poor anti-aliasing of war is a joke (I have a half decent graphics card and all set at highest lvls)In game chat is worse/more difficult than WOW and some of the gameplay doesnt seem to work well eg targetting of friendly characters for healing in battle/or enemies when in fight.
The European website is pathetic, compared with the US one, no server availability check, and a whole group of buttons greyed out. So whilst not totally condeming this game It needs a lot of development to improve it and make the game play more smoothly, especially the ingame communications between players. |

Finally, a very good MMO
(October 03, 2008) |
|
I have been playing Guild Wars, LOTRO and got myself into WoW for a short time, but seems like WAR has got all that the quality MMO should have. Great combat, lots of ways to get XP and no endless grinding sessions.. (particullarly like kill collector who often gives reward for any kills player accumulate) so in that way if you want to grind, you get XP for killing mobs and then extra XP from kill collector.
Graphics aren't spectacular but I don't really mind that. The game offers lots of fun and I didn't feel bored any moment so far.

Listen up
(October 03, 2008) |
|
This game is the most finished MMO on its release; WoW has received several updates not to mention an expansion pack. I remember when I first started WoW in 05 and all the complaints it received which were later rectified. Do not listen to all the WoW fans who come on here saying it's not finished blah blah blah they're use to playing WoW for so long that they expect MMO games to be fully finished on release.
To sum the game up it's for the casual gamer this is for people who have a life and don't want to spend countless hours grinding or raiding. You actually feel like you've accomplished something playing for just a couple of hours rather than raiding a dungeon in WoW and coming out with nothing.
This game doesn't deserve a 5 star because it's not fully finished there are a few bugs and the chat system is poor but I am sure this will be resolved in future updates. I found this a breathe of fresh air from playing WoW and for those of you not still addicted to WoW I'd give it a go.

Ponderous Combat
(October 02, 2008) |
|
My criticism of the game is that the combat seems ponderous. For a game that is touted as PvP (or RvR) this has been a big letdown for me. It is not lag, it just seems that the game hasn't got the zip of WoW in combat. It might be because I've only got to level 12 and I'm used to level 70 combat in WoW. Having said that there are certainly lots of good features that I wish would be incorporated into WoW but unless the combat improves then I'm staying with WoW. |

Better than expected
(October 01, 2008) |
|
Due to the number of complaints people have about the customer service/login/random crashes etc.. I was expecting alot of trouble with this game. As it happens, I have had none. The registration process is not as hard as some make out, as long as you read the instructions. I have experienced no crashes due to the game and have had no problems connecting to the servers. All this with a crap computer and 12KB/s connection speed (which is slow btw as most people have 10 times this speed)
On to the game. Its fast and frantic. There is always something to do and someone/thing to fight and if you want to take time out from fighting you can do the intuitive crafting which is a mini game in its self.
Even though a lot of the quests are kill this, collect that, talk to such and such because they are all relatively quick to complete with lots of good punchy story and they are so many you don't feel like you are grinding. Added to this that everything you do adds to your side you feel that, even though you are rank 1 with 2 skills, you are helping the war effort.
All in all a very enjoyable experience. |
