Gets a bit dull...
(June 27, 2008) |
|
Graphics average. Easy to build sets and buildings and keep your stars happy. Becomes irritating after about the 3rd game because you can only employ extra staff (janitors/builders/extras/crew/actors and directors) if they arrive at your employment buildings...the idea is that the better your studio is doing the more people want employment, but I found the only people arriving were more wannabe actors and none of the other staff I needed to progress. So once you start losing money its almost impossible to recover. Plus the lot you have to build on isn't big enough to add all the sets you could buy. Actor trailers not easy to upgrade because you cant delete objects on mass. The awards ceremonies are a waste of time and even if you are doing brilliantly you still dont get many awards so in all ok to play for a few days / a week tops then you'll be back on amazon looking for something better. |

Great Tycoon game
(January 11, 2007) |
|
This is perhaps the best Tycoon style game I have played since Rollercoaster tycoon. You manage your own movie lot handling the stars, directors, writing staff and the sets. As the game progresses you're able tomake your own films and add effects and sound (even dubbing with you're own voice if you have a microphone) if you want.
The added extras from the normal version are negligable though so get that version and save yourself £30-odd (or go to Game where this version is £10!) |

One for completists only.
(December 02, 2005) |
|
I'm not sure what Lionhead's plans are to support the premiere edition in future. Whether buyers of this will receive extra content or not (compared to buyers of the standard version). As it stands though, the "bonus" content that you get with the premiere edition is pretty poor. The outfits are bland, the "This is Hollywood" trailers are only of mild interest and aren't going to get watched more than once, the "miniguide" really is mini... The 20 extra tracks that you get on the bonus dvd are probably the only things you'll make use of, and is that really worth paying £18 extra? (going by Amazon pricing) You don't get any extra sets, scenes or props. The game itself is a joy to play, and I would definitely recommend it. Go with the standard version though, unless you're a completist that wants access to absolutely everything there is to offer. |
