28-34 Wakefield trin(win)ity Wildcats
(July 23, 2005) |
|
so far this is the only game i've heard of to feature the rugby league (by far the best rugby game in the world), and it doesn't disappoint, with realistic features (see above in synopsis). so can choose to be a rubbish team like castleford tigers, leeds rhinos, or wigan warriors, (ha ha we stole 2 points off ya 2day at the jd sports stadium, super tony smith!!!)or a gr8 team like the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats!!! great game, great team!!! |

The best rugby game ever.....
(November 20, 2004) |

I have played them all & this is by far the best. Unlike WCR & the rubbish the EA have brought out the game play will continually surprise you, finding new ways to sore, seeing new tackles, kicks, player movements etc. for many, many plays. Its not perfect, but its close, lets hope rugby league 2 is not far away & even better.....and all this praise from a rugby union fan.....buy it. |

Fantastic game!

As a rugby fan of long standing, I've been a passionate devotee of EA Sport's classic Rugby 2001 for about 4 years now. That was a great game, and certainly a much needed market filler, considering the total dearth of rugby games around at the time. Added to that, it was and still is, actually, a very good game and has stood the test of time very well. The market situation is not much better now, really. EA's successor, released to tie in with the Rugby World Cup last year, was awful. Unlike their FIFA games, which each year have built on the success of the previous year's game by tightening up and expanding without ever losing continuity with the original, EA's new rugby game was utterly different, and very poorly received. Poorly received because it was very poor. I sold my copy on eBay! Two other games have recently appeared - WCR (which is expanded 'Jonah Lomu Rugby') and a rugby management game. Neither of these match up to Rugby 2001's benchmark, and the management game is a real wasted opportunity. So, into the breach steps this new game, devoted to the other code, 'Rugby League'. As far as I can recall, there has only been one previous rugby league game, an old EA product (which I still have!). However, this game, clearly Australian in origin, is, to quote from the commentary, 'smoking'! It is awesome in scope and execution. The tackles are phenomenal, the game play easy to contend with, the graphics very satisfying, the options almost limitless and the overall experience very satisfying. The only downside is that some of the leagues and the videos have to be 'unlocked'. Still, nothing's perfect! The game is brilliant and really gets you involved. There are four skill levels, so you can build up to world championship performances at your own pace. You can choose from ANZ leagues, GB leagues, internationals. You can customise your team, players or competition. You can watch highlights from recent seasons. It's awesome, as I said. And, you don't have to be a rugby league anorak to enjoy it. You'll love it if you are one, but if you love rugby union you'll enjoy this game. It's great. Buy it today! |
