Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 (PC)
|
|
|
| Description:
In spite of the lack of the competition where PC golfing games are concerned, there's little reason to feel disappointed at just having Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 to pick from. That's unless you feel let down, of course, by majestic visuals, sublime gameplay and an all-round quality gaming experience. Catering for all levels of experience thanks to five well-pitched difficulty ratings, it's an incredibly easy game to get to grips with. Intuitive from the off, you can pick from numerous golfers and courses, each of which are realised exceptionally well. Graphically, the game is outstanding, and given the vast number of gameplay choices available, it's going to last you a very long time. The drawback is that things really haven't come that far since the 2004 edition. Sure, there are different courses to play on, and welcome they are. Then there's a brand new Tiger-Proof mode that lets you modify those courses to squeeze every ounce of playability and difficulty from them, although it's unlikely to be a feature you'll use that often. And as for the gameplay? It really hasn't changed that much, with those fresh courses the main attraction. Yet still, you can't go far wrong with Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005. Whilst it's disappointing that the game hasn't come on too much in the last year, there is the small factor that it was, and still is, one of the finest sports games on any format. Few games offer quite as much replay value, and that should be ample compensation for the lack of a decent competitor.--Simon Brew

Very Impressive
(January 11, 2007) |

After reading alot of TW version I got 2005 & got this & links2003 becuase I new link was a very good sim, this was to be more grafix & fun, I was very imprested all round with this game.
Sounds is top end & the crowd & TV commentaters are realy well done & you realy fell deep in, I havent touch links since.
Grafix awsome & real time unlike links, camrae work looks very TV, very nice.
Creating & working your own amature player is were the game realy impresses & the weaker AI is also very good at being bad if you get me, giving you a good game at almost any skill level.

.....but it is a gamer's game and not a golf game as its just sooooo easy to pick a driver, bomb it 400 yards and then got on the green in two on a par 5 with a lob wedge...seriously

If you grab Tiger or other top pro & go playing yes it does seem easy BUT play it as a new amature player, e.g yourself & your find a much more challenging game, My guy struggles to make it onto the first fairway when new.
This is how the game recommends you play, wile the pros are there to play aginst & when ya mates pop round you all take a pro & have an easy fun game. |

mmm...its not a bad game all of the gear and courses are there...but it is a gamer's game and not a golf game as its just sooooo easy to pick a driver, bomb it 400 yards and then got on the green in two on a par 5 with a lob wedge...seriously, in a stroke play tournament u will finish every round about 20 under...how realistic is that...still fun tho and the best, actually, the only golf game around(apart from the 2006 version) |

The ultimate golf game
(July 19, 2005) |
|
Simply the best golf game out there. The most realistic graphics and game play. Anyone can play this, I even have my 4 year old daughter playing this although she struggles with the putting. If you are after a golf game then this is the best. |

Best upgrade in the series
(January 05, 2005) |
|
Although the game interface has not changed a great deal, this is one of the better upgrades in the Tiger Woods series. Quite apart from the new courses, there is much more gameplay than the previous editions. As far as other golf games go, this golf game is still streets ahead of the competition. Graphically, there are huge improvements. St Andrew's in the 2004 edition looked very drab, even on a sunny day. Now there is much more attention to detail, and it looks much better. All the courses look great. As well as the familiar tournaments, there are many more innovative game modes to consider. All the game modes can be played at any time, so if you have had enough tournaments for the time being, you can take on a legend in the legend tournament, or go back to creating your dream 18 course which lures other legendary players to challenge you on your course. It's a little more difficult to progress than before. You can't seriously take on the Tiger Proof courses in competition mode until you build up your power and length attributes. So despite the lack of change in the swing methods, (which to be fair don't really need much changing...)there is a greater and more interesting challenge than that experienced previously. The only thing that grates with me, (and I guess I'm old fashioned...) is that there is a more hip feel to this edition. I can tolerate the rap music (just!), but having various players jiving and break dancing on the greens after holing a monster putt is going just a little too far! I would like to see this side replaced with the traditional etiquette of the game - how about the players shaking hands at the end of the game, or your opponent applauding a good shot of yours? Most of us don't slamm clubs down to the ground in disgust (even though we'd like to sometimes) - I just think the hip part of the game may appeal to younger folk, but it's been overdone. It's soon forgotten though, as miserable folk like me can hit the escape button to forgoe these insane trivialities and get on with the next shot!! The only other downer in this game is the commentators - the advice given sometimes is wholly wrong!! Don't listen to them all the time!! And I just love it when David Ferhty (spelling???...) comes up with something like "That's going to be short",when the ball rolls up and drops into the hole. Golf fans new to the genre - buy this game. It's good. Tiger Woods 2001-2004 fans, buy this game too. It's well worth it. |
