Custom Play Golf Gold
(February 14, 2008) |

It does not work properly on VISTA.
There is no sound, plus there is no memory for saving games.
Very poor buy!!!

Tedious and very poor - doesn't do what it says on the tin
(March 01, 2007) |

I bought this + the expansion pack with the intention of creating the course I used to play when I lived abroad and is part of the European PGA Tour. I had all the maps of the holes + yardages so I thought it would be easy. In fact it's not only hard, but the final result is very disappointing. I also can't replicate the design screens in the PDF Manual and I've tried everything. Getting the elevations right was impossible and I just couldn't undo stuff when I screwed up. A basic course would be easy, but the idea was to replicate a fairly complex one. Absolutely useless and a big time waster - luckily I spent little on it, so no big loss. Still awaiting a good course design package. |

Not Worth It
(January 22, 2007) |
|
I've never reviewed a product before but I felt I needed to share my dissapointment with this game. The idea of designing your own course sounds fun, but after adding a few bunkers and planting some trees, the moment I took a look round the course to see how it was coming along I was extremely dissapointed and the game suddenly became very tedious. The graphics are awful. All the trees (if that's what you can call them) along with everything else disappears and reappears as you look around. Nothing looks like it should, as all the objects become 2D irregular shapes. Game play is way below average compared to other golfing games out there. To put it quite simply this game is not worth it. |

Waste of time
(October 29, 2006) |

The search for a decent "create your own course and then play it" golf game continues. This is very disappointing. The play is jerky and cumbersome, and very difficult to get to grips with due to the delay from clicking the mouse to the resulting action happening on the screen. The graphics are nowhere near as good as they are made out to be by the cover and the demo screens. In play, large portions of the screen appear blank rather than containing any background, and the "long grass" my ball was described as lying in, appeared as bizarrely shaped angular solid structures, not resembling anything i've ever seen on a golf course. Other reviews suggest that add ons or patches may improve the game, but personally when i buy a game i expect it to be complete, so my advice is to steer well clear of this one. |

Great golf game with lots of potential
(July 15, 2005) |

When I first bought the game, I had a few problems with it. After one-to-one emails from the guys developing CPG, I was impressed at how quick it was sorted after I updated the drivers; and got "CustomUpdate". They have a great fan base. I have been reading about the fans asking for certain features, which have now been added. This game has great potential; and is constantly being improved. I just made my own first hole; and emailed a playable demo to my cousin via CPG PlayMail. How cool is that? |
