|
| Description:
Step onto the pitch and play professional football your way in FIFA 09. Experience the most authentic football simulation EA Sports has delivered as you live the fantasy of playing as a professional player and customise the game to suit your style and ability. Powered by the third generation of the EA Sports football engine, FIFA 09 features more than 250 core gameplay additions and enhancements that deliver the most responsive, intelligent and realistic action ever for the series. Enjoy turning defenders with more controlled dribbling and ball control, snapping off precision shots with improved first-time shooting mechanics and firing beautifully timed passes with greater accuracy, placing the ball exactly where you want it. With new player momentum physics the speed and weight of the player determines everything from the distance of a slide tackle and the power of a header to the severity of player collisions and the height of a player's jump. Plus, players now behave according to their physical attributes with larger, stronger players dominating collisions, battles for control of the ball, and position in challenges for two player headers.

Bug ridden and poor PC release
(October 04, 2008) |
|
Note: I've been trying to play it with my 512MB 4670 at 1680x1050 on max settings. This system can run Bioshock, STALKER, UT3, Gears, etc all on full settings.
If you have a console DO NOT BUY THIS POS, the console versions sadly are FAR superior. This is coming from a true PC gamer, I don't have a console...
EA really have let the ball drop here. The game is great on my friends XBoX 360; however, this is a terrible game in comparison. There are a number of severe issues/bugs with this game. Knowing EA nothing will be done, but I hope they do get round to fixing this....
Here we go:
1. NG graphics are only for close ups. Zoom in on the players on the standard tele cam and you will be appauled.
2. Still stuck with PS2 game play/AI/physics. Play in on a 360/PS3 and the game is far btter.
3. Try using a game pad for the menus. On half the screens you can press thr 'ok' button on your pad to continue; the other half require you to press advance on with the mouse.
4. Mid game tactics changing is pathetic in comparison to PES/Console Fifa.
5. Crippled multiplayer features.
6. Stuttering bugs -- many top range cards (Ati 4870, 4670, 8800s, etc) suffer from a stuttering camera. Despite running the game above 60fps...
7. No anti-aliasing or anistropic filtering options... resulting in saw like graphics...
8. Poor team selection menus. On the consoles you choose the country, then the league. On the PC we have all the leagues mixed together...
9. Half of the game pads on the market seem to need the game setting hacked to work properly.
10. The DRM sucks...

Disappointing: bugs and poor gameplay
(October 04, 2008) |
|
First thing wrong that I noticed was the inability to allocate certain buttons on my gamepad to throughball and tackling, I mean how the hell does that slip through testing? I'm currently trying to play without being able to tackle fully or make through balls, very annoying.
Secondly I've seen balls going through the side netting, this isn't a game with linesman Nigel Bannister officiating! It's just so frustrating that a game is released with these stupid bugs, perhaps with the focus on being first to market over quality control. It's about time we started making companies pay for this sort of attitude.
Thirdly the game just doesn't flow well for me, it's probably a slight improvement on 08 but I still think that PES holds more promise at this stage, we can honestly only hope that it's better than this. Only the absolute die hard fifa fans are going to like this.
Fourthly we have DRM, a la SPORE, google it if you haven't already heard, it was a disaster.
Of course it's not ALL negative, there are lots of fully licensed teams and updated rosters/stats and the ability to take your configurations online with you is nice. But they just don't make up for the larger negative aspects.
Avoid at all costs or give a console version a try. |

No chance..
(September 30, 2008) |

..will I be buying this. Titles that install rootkits should be boycotted by gamers. It's the only way these software companies will get the message. Wait and see how many "fixed" versions will appear on the torrent sites because of the DRM infestation. |

DRM .. SECUROM .. What sort of World do you want to live in
(September 24, 2008) |

Say NO to BIG Business screwing you ... Screwed by the Energy Companies, Screwed by the Banks, then get Screwed by the Goverment to save the Banks so that next year they can turn around and screw you again ... Electronic Arts say drm and securom is to prevent piracy ... no one believes that after the Spore monster torrent download ... just another company screwing the customer...... |

Spore-like SecuROM DRM and now ... micro transactions!
(September 24, 2008) |
|
I was thinking of getting this game as a Christmas present for some family members. I'm appalled to learn that this game will have the same SecuROM DRM that made Spore so infamous. I'm fed up with these lousy anti-piracy systems that have no effect at all upon pirates. EA appears to be scamming its loyal customers by making games that automatically break. What's even worse is that the games break when you upgrade your computer - something that gamers do a lot of!
I have also leaned that they will use micro transactions. This means you will have to pay extra for essential aspects that make the game complete! So not only do we get a game that becomes a coaster, the game isn't complete out of the box!
