So I bought this supposidly XP version for my new PC and it doesn`t work
When you install, it says it needs Service pack 3 - strange as its still only on beta release, so I downloaded Service pack 3, the game still does not run and my PC is screwed up and so I`m having to reinstall Windows, nightmare! |

The greatest game ever!

Champ Man 01/02 is the best game on PC ever. It is such good fun playing with old players like Vieri and Montella and it's not to complicated unlike newer editions. I would recommend this game to any football fans looking for a decent football PC game. 5 stars easily! |

Still the best Management game

This remains my favourite version of the Championship Manager/Football Manager series. It is still incredibly detailed with over 100,000 players and staff crammed into the database. Later versions of the game may include 2d match-style respresentation but the text based commentary included here still works well. There are plenty of leagues in the game and the game positively flies on my machine with every league enabled (Pentium 4 3 ghz, 1 gig ram) which means not too much waiting around for the game to process info unlike some of the later Football Manager versions. Don't get me wrong Football Manager 2007 is still a brill game but for me Cm 01/02 remains my favourite. I just love starting with my local club Dagenham & Redbridge in the conference and trying to win promotion to the Football League. It is a fantastic challenge and of course I keep an eye on how all the top leagues across Europe are progressing. It's now sooo cheap to buy so don't miss out! |

This was about as good as it got with Championship Manager. From here on the games became increasingly over-elaborate and ridiculously hard.
Ofcourse the game is still quite unrealistic in places, particularly on the transfer market. It is also annoying that a player must bid anything up to 200% of a players asking price before the offer is accepted.
But this game combines all the best elements of the detailed later games with the relative simplicity of CM2 and CM9798. Buying, selling, comparing players, scouting and setting tactics is complicated enough to be a challenge but easy enough not to be boring. Its a fine balance but it works.
If you want to buy a football manager game then buy this one or 00/01 as they are easily the best. It may take a little while to adjust the databases but it is totally worthwhile.
For a fiver you really cant go wrong with this. |
