Completely unsuitable for purpose!!! BEWARE!!!!
(May 15, 2008) |
|
I recently purchased this software4 along with a Logitech G25 racing wheel and both are superb. BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Only if your DVD Rom supports the ludicrous DRM copy protection structure of the disk, as an IT consultant I have six PC,s and nine DVD drives to choose from and only one drive will recognise this disk.
DO NOT BUY YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
Sold direct online and no disk needed after download & registration, but no way to use this product the manufacturers blatantly lie about upgrading firmware and drivers avoid like the plague or at least buy a download and get something that works.
Support from rFactor zero.

The best game... by a long way
(May 01, 2008) |

I have searched for so long for a Formula 1 game with all the current teams and drivers and I couldn't have found a better result. The game's quality is pretty good, until you set all the detail levels to full and then the game will leap out at you and make you feel like you are really racing against the greats of Mclaren and Ferrari.
The first time I played this I could not believe how absolutely perfect it was. The vehicles look actually life like and touchable. Its the first game I have seen where the reflection of the car is done in a thorough way. The sound is brilliant however if you have a bad sound card like me you won't be able to hear it to its maximum.
The only real racing car that is out there in real life with the exact same paint job, is the BMW. However on www.rFactorCentral.com it is possible to download mods full of exquisite detail easily and hassle free. There are many different mods whether you want a beautiful F1 lineup or a nonsensicle dune buggy with over-the-top wheels or even just some cool and lifelike tracks.
Once you get inside the game there is an opption for Testing, Race Weekend, Race season or Race replay depending on what you want to do. You can also choose the type of season you want and in races you can choose any of the vehicles in the game to take part.
In conclusion rFactor is a brilliant game enhanced by mods on www.rFactorCentral.com, however you will need a pretty good graphics card and sound card to get the best out of it. |

this is a true im racing game, with mods from another place you can turn it into an arcade racing game also. its more or less the same as any other racing game, the graphics though for its requirements are staggering! its a huge amount of fun for a game like this, you can play almost any racing mod from F1 racing, Formula nippon, to go karts, DTM, 24 hours and dirt track racing. a true racing fanatic would defo enjoy this game! |

Think of a Car Race, Practically any Car Race
(January 09, 2008) |

I bought 2 copies of this game from Amazon before Christmas for myself and my brother in law and I have to say I am extremely impressed by Rfactor. As default the game comes with cars enabling you to race in F1, F3, tarmac rally, formula first and touring cars which sounds alot by comparison to other racing games and then you start to look at the available MOD's on the web which I will come to in a minute. There are a number of unlicensed tracks available in the game including a certain famous Northamptonshire track in the UK which are all accurate down to the bumps in the track surface. The only criticism I would make of the game is that you cannot devise your own championships although there is a program available to download online to do this. The game has a huge online following with MOD's available to download for a wide range of races including Touring Car, Rallycross, Truck racing and also a huge number of accurately modelled tracks meaning that this is practically the only racing game you need. This may not be the prettiest racing game but the lower quality graphics (still looks great to me though) does mean that this will run on lower spec machines contrary to what Mr Evans is incorrectly saying in another review. The min spec for this game is a 1.4Ghz processor, 512Mb RAM and Geforce 4200 or Radeon 9200 128Mb Video card. I highly recommend this game although as previous reviewers have said a good steering wheel is also recommended although keyboard/gamepad control is possible. |

Amazing...

When i was looking for a decent F1 simulator, I came across this game and have to say i was not entirely interested. I only chose to buy it having seen videos on youtube of people driving on it. Even then, I downloaded it from the rFactor website instead of buying the solid copy. This game simulates a whole range of forms of racing, from F1 to Rally. Almost every type of racing is available, with only the need to download later mods.
The graphics of the game are unbelievable. Everything has been perfectly simulated, from the cars to the skidmarks on the track. USI couldn't have done a better job.
The sound is also perfect. you get perfect alarms to where opposition drivers are. I recommend setting up a surround sound system, but two speakers still works. every car has got their own unique sounds, recorded off the real thing.
There is also no problems in the difficulty Front. The game features a system called 'Driving aids'. A driving aid is something that helps you get round the track. When you start to play, you can turn on all driving aids and find it possible to drive round a simple track without taking your finger off the accelerator. As you get better you can turn some of these aids off, meaning you have to do more and the game gets harder. It is easier driving without the aids in a touring car than a F1 car, because an F1 car is faster. |
