Not as good as it sounds
(November 20, 2007) |

When I picked up this game I had recently vowed never buy another bike game on any platform (after tourist trophy on the PS2), but I thought just one more go....... Well it is quite good but I have to say no matter the game it never feels quite right to me, I have ridden a varied selection of real bikes from 600cc to 1300cc and even the big sheds I have battered around on feel more nimble than the bikes in game, at present I have a Honda X4(big heavy cruiser 1300cc) and some of the sports bikes feel bigger and slower. Still its a game after all, the game play is quite good and the graphics are nice and sharp. Its nice to be able to unlock all the new toys and kit yourself out in some nice new gear. The rider development actually seems to make some difference but as with many bike games it seems like you put one wheel wrong and you may as well re-start as you will never catch up. Still a pleasant game to play and I'm sure it will keep me going for some time. Marked down for being a little too hard and not quite right on the physics side. Maybe I need a 'hangon' type controller ???? : ) |

The Best Yet
(January 31, 2007) |

This game is about the best motorcycle game i have played. The realism is near spot on.The replays are awesome. You can actually see the rider changing gear if you look hard enough.Only one gripe i have for this game and that is the multiplayer is for 2 people only and a split screen so ive docked 1 point for that.Otherwise a very enjoyable fast game. The graphics are tremendous. |

Motorbikin'

As a keen (super)biker myself, and having read positive reports about this title from the bike press, I was very keen to compare real riding with the virtual variety. And I was impressed. I have read that bike journalists were recording identical lap times in the game to their times on track, such is the accuracy of the performance of the computerised machines featured and of the tracks themselves. This game does require a great deal of concentration to do well but is by no means impossible to master, and does depend to a degree on which bike you choose. The telling factor is replayability - fall off or get left behind and you'll want another go until you succeed. Although falling off in real life hurts a lot more.
The only gripes I have about this title are the nonsensical need to create different players for the different game elements (Trophies and Career) and the fact that the game sometimes 'freezes' for a second or two leading to a swift exit into the scenery when it unfreezes again and you're suddenly pointing the wrong way. I have also been dumped into Windows a few times with various error messages. This may be down to my particular PC but it was fine before. Anyway, the developers are on the case for me with that one.
In summary, I like this a lot. So when the Gixxer is tucked up for the night I can get some more miles in in the comfort of my own home. |

Stick with GP500
(September 18, 2006) |
|
I love all things motorcycle related, watching it on tv ,riding a sportsbike and playing nearly ever bike game out there. When i heard this game was coming out, i thought great a successor to GP500 which even with the new tracks and bikesets you can download free online was starting to look a bit dated compared to the graphics of modern games.I knew the physics of GP500 were always going to be hard to match or best.
So i bought this after numerous release date delays hoping it would be great, I was wrong.
The major problem with this game is the physics which are the most important part of any raceing game, the brakes and thottle are alright but all the bikes just feel way to loose, its almost impossible to get any consistancy even around the simplist of circuits. The onboard views dont allow you to see the apex of the corner properly. The whole game has a strange layout with the player needing to create two profiles to play the different aspects of the game. There are free races ,challenges and championships to work through but the whole thing feels unfinished.
Yes there is alot of bikes to unlock and ride ,and the tracks are pretty nice to look at, and some of the challenges to increase your player stats are quite fun but after a few days playing I found myself drawn back to Gp500. A big dissapointment.
