Grand Prix 3
|
|
|
| Description:
Being in a Formula One racing car is undoubtedly an exhilarating experience--zooming around a race track at breakneck speeds, the noise, the asphalt screeching by. You can get a taste of that with Grand Prix 3, the latest in the popularGrand Prix series from Hasbro Interactive and Geoff Grammond. Set in the 1998 season, this game has managed to recreate the essence of the sport through beautiful graphics, a plethora of options and in-depth gameplay. GP3 supports practice, non-championship racing and of course champion season, as well as a quickrace option to throw you straight into the action. Once you've chosen your race format, everything from front wing balance to pit stop strategy can be changed--even whether or not you want to be affected by car failures like blown tyres and transmission problems or go to both practice sessions on the Friday and Saturday or not is all included. If this isn't enough to keep your driving mitts happy, there's also an option to produce race reports. Driving performances, lap times, record times and even lap charts that can all be printed out, so you can show your friends after the race and analyse where you went wrong. Although everything from the weather to the tyre choice has been thought out and well executed, the keyboard controls can be a bit on the clumsy side. To combat this, the game does offer support for steering wheels and joysticks, with calibration options to increase or decrease the sensitivity. If you are one of these people who spends Grand Prix season Sundays in front of the television screaming for Schumacher to get out of the way so Coulthard can get past, then this game will give you the chance you've always been looking for to prove your driving worth. --Stuart Miles

Top Stuff, but lacking in multiplayer
(November 23, 2006) |
|
As a formula one racing sim, it's one of the best out there, the graphics are nicely done, the realism and the driver AI are superb, and there's loads of edits and editors around on the web to keep the cars up-to-date, and I even ventured on to design my own car, but the game lacks in multiplayer options, which is what I orginally intended to use it for. I'm unable to have a grand prix season run over my LAN, I can only have individual races. |

The Perfect Racing Sim
(July 27, 2006) |
|
Grand Prix 3 has everything from slipstreaming at Monza to blocking people in the streets of Monte Carlo. Some say that using the keyboard is tricky with this game, it isn't, I won the championship by 22 points on the hardest level using the keyboard. The best part of the game is the weather, one of my races I was leading by about 8 seconds, it started raining so I went to the pits for intermediate tyres but it kept on raining, I went to the pits for wet tyres and the rain stopped and the track dried so I had to go back to the pits for dry tyres, i eventually finished the race 7th but it was a fun way to lose. The AI is superb, the other cars try to stop you from overtaking so it can sometimes be necessary to force the issue which can end in faliure if you get it wrong and when you lap someone, they move out of the way to let you past unlike other f1 sims where you have to overtake them as if you are battling for position. The gravel traps do their job and stop you but you can get out if you know how. The only bit that isn't realistic is the crowd but normally you don't look at them because you will crash. The graphics in car and on track are excellent with warning lights when you have a problem or yellow flags are out. If you want to buy an f1 sim, this is the game to buy, it is leagues above the rest |

The best F1 simulation ever !
(July 25, 2006) |

Buy the game, then visit great websites that enhance the sound, graphics, cars, performance etc..
With these constant updates, your'll be up to date on all seasons. Thank you Mr Crammond for making the game so customisable. I've been playing this for the last 6 years and it's the only game I play.

Very overrated
(February 18, 2006) |
|
Ok the game has picked a good season (1998) but the cars were out of date from when the game was released. GP4 had the 2001 season after being released in 2002 but the end of the season. So why doesn't the game have the 1999 season line up and also, They call Jacques Villeneuve John Newhouse and he has a different helmet from Villeneuve's one. Also Jan Magnussen is Jos Verstappen because this is based on the end of the season. But the season which it was based on (1998) was two years ago when the game was made. And there's no cigarette sponsors. If you want a game of the 1999 season get F1 Racing Championship. |

Looking out this is still the best F1 game until GP4
(July 07, 2004) |

OK the Microprose Grand Prix evolution continues. and publishers Hasbro Interactive have put a lot off effort into a strategy game with developers Microprose and Chris Sawyer, called Roller Coaster Tycoon, OK GP4 is a little bit better. not much. Still GP3 2000 Season is from the creators of GP4. Let's think you should not put the game disc with the upgrade one. but it's a great great game. |
