High octane thrills for anyone who enjoys racing
(October 17, 2002) |
|
If you are a fan of Formula 1 you will definitely have become bored at the sheer monotomy of the real life Ferrari one two's. Well now you can attempt to change it or continue it with the 2001/02 Formula 1 racing season. The graphics, A.I, course detail etc are top notch but nowadays it is what you should expect. Of course to marvel at the true power of the game engine you will need a top notch computer but even on mediocre machines the game still looks and plays well. The thing i liked most was the amount of changes you can make to suit your style. There are so many people with differing abilities (especially in sports games) that the old Easy-Medium-Hard settings will no longer do. F1 2002 lets you alter many attributes of your opponents until you find that perfect difficulty where you win if you deserve to. There are other things you can change according to your ability like invulnerability, traction control, auto gear changes and braking. There are other nice touches including the F1 licence (so all the drivers and courses have the same name) and launch control which, although minor on the scale of things, is something which makes you feel the game is worthwhile. Unfortunately the game has a fairly short life-span. Once you have found your perfect difficulty and have completed the season you will find it difficult to start over again unless you are a die-hard fan of Formaul 1. |

Internet racing at its best???
(September 07, 2002) |
|
I have been waiting ages for a decent online racing game, and after playing F1 2002, I am still waiting. Graphically 100% fantastic. Attention to detail - superb. An all round excellent game - FOR SINGLE PLAY. Take this game online and it gets silly. The gravel traps do nothing to slow cars down, so when you are racing online, there are an awful lot of people who cut through the traps and make Michael Schumachers real life times look positively snail-like. How can an amateur racer with no racing experience, no setup experience be 10 seconds a lap quicker than the great Schui. If you want to pit your skills against genuine racers, then this isnt the game for you, as for the others, try rally, its more your type of game. |

Best F1 Sim to date
(July 03, 2002) |
|
This is the best F1 simulation I have ever played. It is the most realistic, with all drivers, their personal setups, real teams and real aids (i.e. Traction control, launch control etc.) If I had to choose the best sports sim, I would choose F1 2002. |
