Airline Tycoon (PC)
|
|
|
| Description:
In this game, you act the part of a budding airline tycoon, trying to win out against three other budding tycoons. You must keep your aircraft in good shape and equip them at a level to keep the customers satisfied, buy new planes (from the expensive Airplane Agency or from Mr Schlauberger at the museum who fixes 'em up and sells 'em cheap) and take out bank loans if required. You must also manage your personnel, plan flights, buy fuel, attend meetings in the airport manager's office and, if you have time, slip into Rick's café for a quick cup of coffee. There is lots to explore and many decisions to make. The graphics are bright and decidedly tongue in cheek: the tycoon Igor Tuppolevsky has a set of Russian dolls on his desk--and an open tin of caviar. With a network, up to four people can play at once and the game status can be saved (as it can in single-player mode) for long battles of wit. The game originated in Germany and the manual runs to charming turns of phrase such as the one describing the game as one that will "bring fun without much pondering". It's true, too. --Mark Whitehorn

Okay, But a Bit Disapointing
(September 14, 2008) |

I bought this game and it's expansion pack expecting a great all round package of airline management and in some ways I got it, I liked the basic idea and enjoyed playing for the first few days but after a while it got a bit samey. One problem I had was that my character would occasionally decide they needed to go to the loo desperately and would run off. After they came out I would set them a task but within seconds they would turn around and go straight back into the loos. It has now got to the point where I just turn the game off whenever this happens. Overall though a decent game with challenging scenarios and characters with diorhea (you don't often find that in a game)! |

A very good game

I bought this game because I am interested in airlines, and I am also very interested in tycoon games for the PC. The game is easy to adapt to, as there is a very helpful tutorial mode that takes you through everything you need to know to get started. There are four characters to choose from, and after you select one your career begins. You get your very own office, with letters to read on the desk, flight planners, a mobile phone to contact your co-workers or other branches, etc. The key to the game is to stay on top - it's competitive and you can try all sorts of little tricks to make sure you're the absolute best at running an airline. There is always something to do, and the game never gets boring. You often find yourself running out of the office and obtaining more flights for your flight planner. You can wander around the whole of the airport, where you can speak to all kinds of people. This ensures you pick up little tips and tricks to help you along the way. Many aspects of running an airline are covered. The attention to detail is good. For instance, you get to choose what sort of meals people eat on your aircraft, what sort of furniture there is on the aircraft, and much more. The aim of the game is to be the most successful airline. This is a great game which increases in difficulty as you progress. I would recommend this game to anyone. |

The best game in the world. I advise anyone who likes tycoon games to get this. (...) The graphics are good, the missions you do are excellent and inside the airport is real. GO OUT AND GET IT!!! |

Airline Tycoon
(November 11, 2003) |

Hi, I think that airline tycoon is a very good game but it takes a bit to learn how to work the flight plan but after that its clear sailing if I was a new player it is best to hire some advisers they tell you if a flight plan is good or if you lose money on that flight. I would recamond it to people with quite a lot of time on their hand becauseonce you start playing you can't stop!!! |

Airline Tycoon-Not all that it lives up to be
(August 08, 2001) |

Hello i am Neil, and i was dying to buy this game, as i love aviation. Although be warned the game is more to do with financial stuff rather than actually being in control of the planes. I have played it once, and has still been on my shelf in my room for ages. If your keen on sims then flight simulator 2000 is better than this. |
