EXCELLENT GAME BUT WOULD NOT RECOMEND IT FOR THE OLDER GAMER? SOLD IT ON AT A LOSS? HAD NEED FOR SEED CARBON, BUT COULD NOT OE WITH NIGHT SEEDING SOLD THAT ON TO, BUT THE YOUNGSTERS WILL LOVE EM? GEREATRIC GEORGE |

Almost good

This game has some great points and some completely stupid problems.
The good -
Its a great game to play online or with friends over a LAN.
The graphics are pretty decent even by todays standards they're ok.
Sounds effects of the cars are pretty good and once again EA has all the licenses so the best sound track for the game.
The Championship gameplay is pretty good as it just plain old fashioned racing unlike Hot pursuit mode that will be discussed later.
The bad -
Well one of the most annoying things about this game is that the cars feels so sluggish and slow. Even with a steering wheel or gamepad the game just doesn't quite feel right. Although this seems like a pretty big problem I seemed to get used to it after a while but it is something that has been fixed in the later Need for Speed games.
The Hot Pursuit mode sucks for the very reason that no matter how fast your car is or how skilled a driver you are you will NEVER escape without getting rammed at least once. What seems to happen is that when the police cars in pursuit drop back more than 100 metres the police cars drive like Michael Schumacher in a rocket car. Thats what makes it so annoying is that no matter how hard you try you just can't escape. I know is sounds really pedantic but it gets so annoying after a while.
In conclusion its a good game to have and play for a few hours of fun or even better with mates over a LAN. But isn't the type of game that has great replayability because it does get boring.

Brilliant Driving Game

I play my mates game need for speed hot pursuit 2 and,i have read where one reviewer says that it's too hard, just not true. I have opened up all tracks you just have to pursurvere thats all. Some of the cars are great for handling and some are'nt like take the maclaren F1 for example great for speed but absolutely c*** for handling but take the jaguar cars good for speed brilliant for handling you just have to try and keep ahead of the rest as much as you can thats all, and as for the cops, if you are in one place too long say for example if the cave you in and they keep you there for too long your busted you can't just ram them to get out because if you can't get out within 2 and a half secs then well your busted. Me personally i think that the game is a bit too easy thats why i'm buying my own copy off amazon soon because if you want to play online whenever you want then you can, just because like i said before i think that the computers too easy (thats just for me though). for other people it might be a challenge. But i think that the game is definetly worth the money and even though i've completed it i just keep playing it and love it, the reason that i have only given it 4 stars and not 5 is like another reviewer said the damage, the cars are incincible, you crash into a wall and it's like hey not a scratch just like it was when it come out of the showroom, Right cop mode, being the cop is hard, you have to have your wits about you when and be very fast in terms of bumping into the car, but saying all that i still think that the game is definetly worth buying and can't wait to get my own copy so i can play online by myself with people who will give me a challenge hopefully!! |

Go for Need For Speed Underground!

I purchased this game when it first came out, at the time it had the best graphics i had ever seen! Now - November 2003 it is not the best game on the market. Good graphics but nothing like those in Midnight Club 2. Also the handeling is pretty poor. There is quite a large variety of tracks but they are quite repetitive with some tracks simply being reversed or taking slightly different routes (barriers). If you are thinking of buying this product i would recommend you buy Need For Speed Underground out late November 2003.
Overall verdict: Great at time of release! Now there are better things - NFS Under ground and Midnight Club 2. |

The best game ever

Need 4 Speed hot pursuit 2 is an absoulatly incredible game. The main things this game has to offer is the graphics which are stunning, the second thing is the wide selection of amazing cars and the third is the sheer excitment of the game, not to mention the brilliant music. I would recomend this game to anyone who enjoys driving games. |
