Hitman 2: Silent Assassin (PC)
|
|
|
| Description:
If you are looking for the ultimate in stealth gameplay then you should look no further than Hitman 2. Based around 21 missions you play a hitman trying to save a friend who's been kidnapped. Immersing you slowly into a story that moves between Russia, India, Japan and other locations, you have to use your wits as you sneak through deadly exercises. Continuing on from the original game, Eidos has done a lot to improve the games control mechanism as well as some of the features that where criticised in the first instalment. Unlike the original, a save option has now been included, though the number of saves you get (and the number of bad guys and the degree of their intelligence) will be determined by the difficulty level you choose. While the graphics have been noticeably improved since the first game--the snow is very impressive in St Petersberg--neither the sound nor the gameplay have been forgotten: there is now a 60-piece orchestra and 50-member choir soundtrack; and now you don't necessarily have to complete the missions in a specific order. Eidos has managed to do a rare thing with Hitman 2. It has taken a game that was by all accounts mediocre, listened to the criticism and tried its best to address the problems with an effective response--and produced a high-quality game which, although still difficult, should give you plenty of late nights and annoying puzzles to solve. --Jason Denwood

A well deserved 5 *'s

So what kind of Hitman are you ? Are you a gun toting thug or are you a refined killing machine, whichever you are this game will allow you to exploit those skills and even improve them perhaps. I have never played the first Hitman game so am coming into this from here, I have nether-the-less heard it had a few bugs. This game however does not. You play a highly trained clone - number 47 - and you are a Hitman. You follow the storyline of this game going from mission to mission carrying out whatever task is laid before you, some of the missions are relatively easy and some of them by comparison are very hard so all skill levels are catered for. Once you are within the mission you are free to carry it out however you see fit, so if you prefer shooting anything that moves, you can (doesn't make the mission any easier though), using the various pistols, machine guns and rifles at your disposal. Or you could also go silent, and work your way through the missions from the shadows, utilising the cheese wire, combat knife, butchers knife and silenced pistol. The choice is ultimately yours and that is one of the great things about this game, you have the choice. You can work out your own plan and then execute it - no pun intended. The success of the mission is down to you so you better get your plan worked out before you execute it. I give this game the full 5 *'s and highly recommend it to everyone. The next version, hitman contracts is even better I hear.......must complete this one first, I must, I must, I must. |

Incredible game

Having played the first game after this one I have to agree that they sorted out the problems with the lack of in-game saving. In the original the Hitman-style trial-and-error play got incredibly frustrating. Here you can save five times a level, and as a result the game becomes much more playable and far less irritating. The eye for detail here is incredible. The graphics are beautiful and run smoothly on my machine. Particularly the doctor level with the huge temple, not only does it look a million dollars, watching other people go about their business adds to the immersion. The beauty of the structure of the levels contrasting with the nature of death is a guilty pleasure rarely executed well in games today. Hitman's style is in the way that you feel so much more free and relaxed in playing the game, the way you want, at the same time under-cover. Hitman 2 is along there with the likes of Thief and Deus Ex. If you’re really boring and shallow you can choose to blow everything in sight (may I add it won’t help you), or become the silent assassin in the games title and take down the victim in a secluded fashion. At the end of the day, Hitman 2 is a great sequel and a great addition to one of the greatest series of the new century. The first didn’t quite pull it off, but this more than makes up for it. Here’s hoping that Hitman 3 will be even better. |

Truly a great stealth+sneek+action game

Well the bald, tall, meenie looking stealth killer is back! Hitman2 is a excellent 3rd person shooter + first person shooter. Hitman2 is alot better than hitman1 the original 1, alot of people said that hitman1 was a poorly made game, but i dont think so. In fact hitman1 was HARDER than hitman2. Anyway about hitman2....AMAZING graphics, LOTS of realistic weapons and thier sounds, nice music background, VERY good AI, the only con is that the game isnt long enough, but the levels are really well fought out, and nicely done. fight your way threw 6 dangerous countries packed with rough, mad, tough crime bosses. Also so many ways to complete a level from...rushing in with a ak-47 and blasting everyone to pieces or...QUITELY going round a back entrance and popping a bullet in a crime bosses head...choice is yours. Guys if you buy hitman2 you will NOT be disserpointed, to be honest...hitman2 is a personal favourite game of mine, i love it. And i cant wait untill hitman3 comes out! |

Hitman 2- A definate hit

What can I say, I loved this game. Enjoyed everything from the stunning graphics, the clever plot and the multitude of ways to finish the levels. At first, I didn't get the silent assassin bit, I went through the first few levels killing everything in site and was soon rated a mass murderer. When I realised there was a stealthy way to play, I went back and replayed the early levels, much more fun being stealthy. The game kept my interest, unlike other reviewers I didn't find it too short. One thing, look to go above the minimum system requirements by a fair way, this game is very demanding on PC Resources. |
