LEGO Island 2: The Brickster's Revenge (PC)
|
|
|
| Description:
Armed with pizzas, a skateboard and a cool attitude, Pepper Roni--a freckle-faced pizza delivery boy--must save LEGO Island from a bad guy called the Brickster in Lego Island 2. Our hero dude travels from the depths of the sea to the outer limits of space (to Ogel Island... get it?) in pursuit of his man in this engrossing CD-ROM. Boasting a whopping 18 subgames scattered throughout an intricate realm of islands, undersea worlds, deserts and space, LEGO Island 2 focuses more on adventure and less on construction than previous LEGO titles. Players assume the identity of renaissance dude Pepper: pizza delivery, deep sea diving, astronaut training and jousting are just a handful of the well-rendered experiences that await adventurers. The arrow keys get quite a workout as the game progresses, as they control everything from speedboats to parachutes as Pepper changes modes of transport. Pepper churns through this world fending off the Brickster's henchmen robots, collecting pages of a "Constructopedia" and mastering various challenges in order to progress. The charm of this impressive Windows-only program lies in the attention paid to detail, dialogue and creative fun. The undersea game doesn't just have fish--it has narwhals and rowdy pirate skeletons growling curses. A knight straight out of Monty Python intones "Nay, nay, nay, one-who's-name-is-a-spice" when Pepper asks for help. Creators also put a skateboard park on the island just for the heck of it. LEGO Island 2 provides both great game play and ample opportunity to freestyle. Also, the fluid detail of this program belies the chunky origins of LEGO life as we know it. That detail comes with a price: it takes some time to load the subgames and scene changes even if your system meets the game's requirements. If LEGO Island 2 were one of Pepper's pizzas, it'd be an ultra mega deluxe, piled high with mummies, pterodactyls and renegade robots. It'd also take a longer time to bake than your plain cheese, but the wait would be worth it. (Ages 6 to 99) --Anne Erickson, Amazon.com

Slow to install and difficult to play
(June 09, 2007) |

When I played this game I thought at the beginning it would be a good one, but it turned out to be quite hard and quite limited. The graphics are good but there are limits to what you can do and what you can't. When you get to the second world, it's quite hard. The main problem is that it's very slow loading and when you're playing and change scene, it can take about 3 minutes each time to load. Overall, the graphics and humour are good, but the slow loading and difficulty in playing limit it. Not recommended. |

A sensible review of Lego island 2
(October 12, 2004) |

While it is certainly true that some parts of the game have what seems like a long load time, it really isn't a major issue and certainly does not detract at all from the game. The graphics are good for a game of this age, and the gameplay is varied and challenging, I certainly would not class this game as being incredibly hard, and neither would the 4 yr old I purchased the game for and who has now completed it from start to finish many times. Bottom line is - this is a quality game which will be played time and time again, I bought it for around £15 which was good value then, at the current low price it is a definite must have. |

When I first bought Lego Island, I liked it alot. So then I bought this one, and let me tell you it is terrible! The game takes an awful long time to load EVEN if you have a PENTIUM 4 and the newest graphics card! And if thats not enough, It's Incredile how hard it is!! Bottom Line:Don't Buy |

Lego Island 2

I found this game pretty challenging at first. My favourite part would have to be pelting the snakes with coconuts. I also like the skatepark and Pepper's tricks. The only disadvantage is that it takes a long time to load |

This game is a brilliant game, some might say that it is even better than the first, it is a great idea for a game and this is proved in the first games sales. If you liked the first i would definately recomend it, and even if you have not played the first it is a great game. |
