So bad it passes good and goes full circle back to bad.
(September 08, 2008) |
|
I played this game knowing that it was going to be weak, many people had told me that, in there word's, "its absolute B******t". With such glowing recomemdations I just had to give it a go.
Story: Eeerm yeh, I dont think there really was one. Something about some kind of bomb and you have to kill one badguy only to find that he's just a stepping stone to the next, and the next, then another one, and so on and so on, untill you get to the cliffhanger ending that is less cliff and more slight gradiant.
Graphics: they didnt really bother here either, lets move on.
AI: The AI reminds me of all the really old games I used to play were enemie stopped in one possition and stayed there till they died. They make literally no avoiding action at all, leaving you to just shoot them in the face, which brings me on to the main gripes.
Weapons and Gore: The gore is just what you were lead to believe, stupidly over the top to the point of hillarious. Unfortuantely it is so bugged that it just mangles the game. For instance you would think that the jib fest of an exploding head would be your reward for a well placed head shot, Well no. The problems are these; The weapons are so stupidly inaccurate that anything you hit is simply by mistake, and secondly the damge models are so screwed that you would have to shoot over a guys shoulder to score that satisfying headshot, stupid.
The shotgun, the gamers favourite weapon, dispencer of jibby death the gaming world over, and here it does much the same. The only trouble is that it drives the havok engine mental. The shotgun will literally put bodys through walls and leave jibs stuck in the ceiling. I once had a torso (just the torso) stuck to a wall spinning around all over the place, stupid.
The light 50 (cant remember what its called in the game), the worst weapon in the game simply because it does not work, forget headshots, you have enough trouble registering hits centre mass.
The knife. The knife is able to catapult people through the air like you flew concorde up their a**e, before pinning them to the wall like a hunting trophy.
Other bugs and glitches: Back to the damage model, my biggest gripe. Its not just that its a bits suspect like many other games. in this game the damage model seems able to actually seperate itself from the graphics model and wonder around freely leaving you desperatly scanning the room till your reticle goes red so you know were to shoot, all the while the graphics model is trying to massage your face with his rifle butt, stupid.
In conclusion this game is actually worse then I expected, given my low expectation thats quite impressive. But it was so bad that I spent most of my time laughing till it hurt.
Everyone should play this game, you simply have to experiance the sheer stupidity.

I didn't expect much, but ...
(April 16, 2008) |

... this game really stinks. I didn't even play through the first level. It just ...sucks. I LOVED the first and second part. played them about 3 times each, but this one .... oh boy.
The controls are a pain. the graphics .. well ... there are worse, and thats the reason because it gets a star more than I usually would give a game like that. After playing CoD 4 and Crysis, I really couldn't stand this game. I didn't have high hopes, but even they were shattered when I first saw this pile of ****
DO NOT BUY! DO NOT EVEN STEAL! It wouldn't be worth the DVD-R. |

Unplayably bad
(February 19, 2008) |

Bought this against my better judgement, and it was WORSE than I could ever have imagined. I was expecting it to be bad from reviews that I'd read - but surely it couldn't be that bad?
This game is a disgrace to the Soldier of Fortune name, and it's no wonder that it's a budget title. The only plus point that I can find is the passable graphics - it's nothing special compared to titles like CoD4 and Crysis though. The AI was so bad that it felt like I was shooting at pop-up wooden targets, and the gameplay felt somehow cheap and unpolished.
45 minutes of my life that I'll never get back - you have been warned! |

Don't waste money on it

This game is flawed with glitches and scripting errors. There's nothing in this title that remains of 2 previous brilliant SOF games. The story line is rubbish and gameplay is a complete catastrophy.
Multiplayer is a joke - 10 years old behind modern releases such as COD, Battlefield etc...
AI is not intelligent and very easy to kill. Very predictable movements and not a challenge.
It's a pure imported console game with a lack of customization options for PC.
Graphics aren't special and looks a bit outdated, but specs on the box are demanding.
I strongly recommend you not to buy it. |
