Medal of Honor Allied Assault: Breakthrough Expansion Pack (PC)
|
|
|
| Description:
With the original add-on pack to Allied Assault being one of the most successful ever, it was perhaps inevitable that another would be along soon after. It's arrived in the form of Breakthrough, which adds plenty to one of the PC's favourite first-person shooters. The pack moves the action to North Africa and Italy, across 11 new single-player and nine multi-player levels. As before, these environments are realised well, and make differing demands on the player. Plenty of additional weaponry certainly helps in that department. The single-player missions are a bit of a mixed bag, with some standout campaigns set beside a few that are a little more run-of-the-mill. Yet they'll still be happily lapped up by anyone who's worked their way through what's gone before, and the good news is that Breakthrough will last you a good bit longer than the previous expansion pack. Don't expect anything that breaks the mould, though. On the multi-player side, the best addition is the new liberation mode. The idea is that you must rescue players as part of the ongoing battle, and it's really good fun to play. Breakthrough is a good and welcome expansion to a game that's still an office favourite. It's got a few niggles, but it genuinely expands upon the original game and delivers a healthy dose of added entertainment for Allied Assault's many fans. --Simon Brew

Wrong item delivered
(July 04, 2007) |

I was very disapointed with the seller thet I picked via Amazon ie (pc-software) for the item I ordered was called Medal of Honor Allied Assault Breakthrough, witch was a expansion pack for Medal of Honor Allied Assault.
The expansion pack I recieved was called Spearhead & I already have that one so it was of no use to me witch leaves me very disapointed and out of pocket.
My complaint is against (pc-software) and not Amazon for this mistake

1943-1944
(July 27, 2004) |
|
Set in the European Theatre of Operations from 1943-1944, Medal of Honor Allied Assault Breakthrough combines eleven single-player levels with nine new multiplayer maps and includes new locations, new weapons, and new soldiers. As U.S. Army Sergeant John Baker, players will join the battle at Kasserine Pass in North Africa, race to capture Messina in Sicily, and finally repel the German army at the historic battle of Monte Battaglia in the heart of Italy. Armed with a new arsenal of weapons, players will fight alone and with squad mates as they rush to stop the Axis powers by striking at the soft underbelly of Europe. The multiplayer game has been enhanced with the addition of Liberation Mode. In this mode, defeated players must be rescued by surviving teammates to continue the fight. The popular Tug-of-War and Objective modes also return. In addition, players can drive tanks, artillery spotters can call in artillery strikes, and minesweepers can lay down and defuse mines. Players can also choose from American, British, Italian, and German skins in all multiplayer modes. |

Unstable
(April 08, 2004) |

I have played all of these and, whilst Breakthrough is great as a game, long and entertaining, it is knowhere near as STABLE as the others. I ran it on two machines, a Dell P3 running 98SE with 512 RAM and a Dell P4 with XP and 1024 RAM and it crashed about 10 times on each. I looked it up on the net and there are NUMEROUS people with the same problem - so be careful with this one. Don't the manufacturers know that one of the 10 computer commandments is: Thou MUST make thy software STABLE !!! Anyway - I'm going to wait a year with each of EA's releases until they've fixed all the bugs. |

Too Hard (it's a game)
(February 06, 2004) |
|
Hoora.....oh, hang on what's going on? Fuzzy doesn't like this one as much. I'm going to take a risk here and say it was too hard, yes too hard. OK I know the war wasn't easy but it's a game isn't it, so it should be smooth and entertaining. There was a great balance of missions, weapons, ambience and vehicles - the graphics were, as usual spot on but there were too many moments when the excitement dropped and I struggled through certain moments. My wife said "I don't think you liked that one as much did you?" and I said "No, how did you know?" she said "You shouted at your computer a lot more than the last one" - thus it gets a three. |

GREAT GAME
(December 01, 2003) |
|
If you liked the other two in the MOHAA series then you just have to love this. It puts you through all the action of WW2 just as you should expect. I got this game the day it came out and i STILL play on it. I just don't get bored of it, because you can't. The first level puts you through the African desert, and do you want to know what happens??? Then you will just have to buy the game and find out for yourself ;-) |
