Dissapointing

First of all I would like to say I enjoyed the gameplay and the feel of the game but overall I am dissapointed about the service and the quick release of an unfinished game.
After playing this game for 2 months and buying the Collectors Edition I feel I have wasted a lot of time and money.
The game is not yet complete and going through some major face lifts which I am sure will fix the game up. The problem overall I have is:
1. I spent £60.00 for the Collectors Edition and soon found out that all the extra features were applied to standard game buyers accounts.
2. I didn't get early access / mounts due to a mess up with Collectors Edition.
3. I spent for 6 months of gameplay and after 2 months the game is still in beta stages (I was a beta tester).
If you are interested in buying this game please wait a few more months as it is not yet complete. |

Disappointing

Well, it appears funcom made a right mess of things.
I spent months prior to launch working hard settings up a guild website/forums. A month after launch half the guild members had quit the game and I wasn't far behind them.
The game is so buggy and unstable it's barely playable for most people. Most of the patches seem to break more things than they fix. The classes are unbalanced and all the features that attracted me to the game are broken. The support is terrible, funcom are burying their heads in the sand and ignoring their customers.
Potentially it could have been a great game. Unfortunately it turned out to be a big disappointment.
My advice is keep your money for Warhammer Online, hopefully that'll be alot more rewarding. |

Not impressed at all.

My second review after playing for a few months.
This game is total a waste of time, every aspect of the game is incomplete or not worling I wish I could give it a negative score. I've broken the game down into what I feel are the key components.
Graphics: Beautiful, the only thing in the game they got right.
Game Engine: Many crashes on zoning, out of memory errors, BSOD etc.
Leveling up: This is a single player affair, the benefits of grouping with friends are outweighed by the xp you get while you solo, this is not an mmo by any standard.
Exploits: The amount of reported in game exploits that have not been closed is ridiculous, the official forums are awash with people reporting these exploits and begging for them to be closed. There is nothing but silence from the Dev Team and Funcom. This is game breaking.
PvP: PvP is unbelieveably imbalanced, certain classes cannot fail to win fights, kill/death ratios of 29-1 are not uncommon in the mini pvp games.
FFA pvp is ruled by large guilds that dominate the high level areas by spawncamping the entry zone forcing you to leave.
Massive PvP: (Sieges) Sieges do not work and have never worked since day 1 of release. There are buildings that cannot be destroyed, missing respawn points, unworking siege engines. To this date no attacker has taken a battlekeep off a defender. This was the main selling point of the game and its not finished 3 months after release.
Rewards/Titles: There are no reward sytems in place for pve or pvp. Raiding is rewarded with sub standard gear, and pvp has nothing.
Itemisation and Stats: Itemisation is not good enough, stats for low level items are in some cases far better than medium and high level items.
Stats are currently not working, I'd say 70-80% of stats dont work at all. The stats guide promised by the dev team has yet to materialise.
Raiding: All current raids in AoC are bugged and have been exploited since day 1 of release. Tier 2 is not complete, Tier 3 does not exist.
Forums: The official forums are a mess, the moderators delete, ban and edit posts/members at manic speed. Post a problem, greivance or complaint and you get a locked post and redirected to the automated email system. Repeat your post and you get a warning, your post edited or you get a ban. The forums seem to be policed by 15 year olds that lost their ritilin tablets.
The Support: There is no support, you write in with an issue, complaint or report an exploit and you get no reply other than the automated "thank you we have recieved your email". Then nothing.
Server populations are down, people are upset with the lack of communication and silece from Funcom and are leaving in their thousands.
Don't buy this game, it's failing and it's failing hard. |

Not released yet so why review

to those reviewers who have not even played the game yet due to simple fact this has not been released yet. unless your admitting to breaching an NDA then i hope you get kicked from the beta, do not post whining reviews about a product that has not been launched its not even on open beta yet so no wonder your preorder codes are not working & if you cant be bothered to check what system requirements the game needs.
giving the fact that i have the preorder codes & am happily waiting for the open beta to start & the release of product will have its teething problems at launch all mmos do, wish the lame wow trollers would stop posting negative reviews.
the footage i have seen so far makes me hope that this is the mmo that rips that heart from the wow community, even if it does not their are quite a few mmos in development atm that will try to take swipe at wow. |

Overall very impressed

So far so good. I am up to level 11. It's "WoW-like" but at the same time isn't, in a good way.
The gfx are much better as mentioned by others. The gameplay is also more interactive, no more point and autoshot make a cup of tea, as the AI learns your moves and you have to change them or they become ineffective.
The game and storyline are much richer.
I havent seen any bugs or crashes yet. I have a very high spec machine, dual FX74s, 8800GTS and 8Gb RAM on Vista64. Seems much more stable than WoW (is today!) so I dont know what the fuss is about. I can play on 1900x1200 full AA and get around 60fps which is good enough for my eyes.
There is a night mode for single player in the starter town (effectively an instance) or you can play during the game daytime for interaction with others - nice touch. The manual also mentions instancing of areas to avoid game lag, which would be impressive.
there is an extra layer of money, tin copper silver gold
Points to come across yet:
there are mounts you can ride in combat and you have to swing your weapon on the correct side of the mount to hit your opponent!
group quests and instances
cant make a guild until level 20+
guild raids to conquer other guild towns!
the CE cape and ring - not sure where they are.
Summary
Looks promising as a potential WoW replacement. I will play both equally until the Lich King is released then take a view. Hope to reach say level 40-50 by then. I am not in a rush to level like the kids are and want to enjoy the experiences the game has to offer. If you havent played WoW or similar, the interface will take some getting used to. |
