Atmospheric mystery...
(September 26, 2008) |
|
I wasn't sure what to expect from this but as I like mysteries on TV I thought I'd give it a go. I certainly wasn't disappointed. Whilst the gameplay is slow, it is also involving and I found myself playing for long periods and not wanting to finish until I got to the end of the chapter. Even then the temptation to play on was ever present.
I enjoyed this very much and it felt like living through a detective movie or TV episode. The only drawback is, however, that once played you may not ever play again. This is because the gameplay is very linear and replay not really catered for in the storyline.
However, if you like mysteries and see youself as a budding Private Detective then this is the game for you! Buy it and enjoy - I did! |

Darker RPG for mature player
(August 30, 2008) |
|
I thoroughly enjoyed this title. If you're an RPG fan, I would certainly recommend it. I got this game to fill my lunch hour at work, finding other DS games too twee and dim for my tastes. Though this is a point-and-click format, I thought the puzzles, riddles and sleuthing to be really engaging. The characterisations are great, the art and mature manga style are very appealing, and the plot is substantial and interesting. Unlike most RPGs, I did not find myself figuring out the plot twists well in advance. I can say the revelations surprised me on many occasions.
There are some moments where wandering about to trigger an event can annoy, but usually the clue is given during game-play so getting stuck wasn't really an issue. You have a handy in-game note-book to keep track of your next move and the info you've gathered. So if like me you don't play a game for a full week, you can go straight back in and read your own reminders. Plus the game has end of chapter summaries to get you back on track.
You'll really get a feel for all the characters you engage and for the main character. But like many point-and-click RPGs, this is a mystery plot. There is a lot of reading to be done, a lot of interrogating and plenty of thinking involved. Get it wrong and you may find your foot in your mouth, get kicked out and have to start the chapter over. Just save as often as you can between events and you'll have no problem.
This game is mostly about talking to people, grilling them for answers, pasting stories together and interacting with your environment to find clues and solve riddles. If you love character-driven plots then this is definitely for you.

ok !!
(August 06, 2008) |
|
ok game far too much reading of conversations which became quite irritating at times. enjoyable looking around he hotel finding clues and people to talk to, i wish there had been more clue finding rather than talking to people to piece the story together. i played it over a space of 2 wks and completed it, and was glad to tbh!! couldnt play it again wouldnt want to face another game where there is this amount of reading....i felt like i was reading a book more than playing a game...and fell asleep playing it at times.the graphis are in black and white just like the picture on front of box and not much other colour througout which became quite boring too. because there was so much reading of conversations it ave it away too much as to what to do next u didnt have to think much!!

A Serious Adventure Game
(July 10, 2008) |
|
I like this game. I havent finished it yet but felt i wanted to review. It's very much a serious adventure so perhaps kids wouldnt find it that 'fun'. The graphics are unique and i really liked the way the people are animated. It has a deep storyline that sucks you in and some logical puzzles. Its a nice break from colourful Mario type games. There arent many good adventure games around on the DS so id recommend this one. Should keep you occupied for a while! |
