One of the time less classic of the video gaming world
(September 09, 2007) |
|
Wave Race 64 is the Wrath of Khan, it's half price day at the cinema, it's Stephen Patrick Morrissey's seminal 1994 solo album 'Vauxhall and I', it's Jeff Buckley's live version of Mojo Pin, it's Alan Moore in the 80's, it's John Williams Superman theme, it's going to the sea side and finding an arcade that still has an original 1984 Atari Star Wars cabinet, it's really reall good.
The reasons for this are many fold. The graphics have their own timeless quality like Pac Mac and Space Invaders. The race courses are a thing of beauty, the kind that get you physcially leaning into the turns in the real world as you watch the action on screen. The way the water responds to you and the waves you create as you move through it is another ageless aspect to this all time classic. The way the jet ski riders respond when you pull back or push up on the stick to alter the airodynamics of their stances. The fun of learning and pulling off the trick moves. Like the best board games Wave Race 64 is easy for beginers to enjoy and has many dephs of play to explore as you get to grips with the what's going on under the surface of the basic 'finish 1st' game play.
You can download it for the Wii virtual console and it's well worth it. But this game is so good it's worth buying an N64 (or bringing your old one out of retirement) just to enjoy this.
This game is one of the classics and totaly peerless. Even the Gamecube sequel (although very good) doesn't come close. |

Wave Race 64 Now Available On Nintendo Wii Virtual Console
(August 29, 2007) |

Wave Race 64 captures the feeling of racing over water better than anygame before or since it's late 90's release. Having played the origanal N64 cart to death , I recently downloaded this game for the Wii virtual console and can happily say it looks and plays better than ever . The only things missing on the wii version is rumble pack support and ghost racing , otherwise this is a must buy title for wii or N64. The wii version costs 1000 wii points / £ 7 |

Excellent Game

Wave Race is a quality game and will remain so for years to come. There are some games that will always be great games no matter how old they are, such as Pac Man, Gran Turismo and any of the Grand Theft Auto games the reason these games will stand the test of time is because they are all original or they are a lot better than their competiors. Wave race is one of these games becuase there are no competitors for it. It has great graphics many different modes, tons to unlock and a great multiplayer mode. If you have a N64 then get wave race it is simply brilliant. |
