O'Leary's Total Soccer has been the Man.Utd of gameboy footballing for so long, and it is only right that it should lose it`s crown to it`s very own follow up: O'Leary's Total ManagerThis is really two superb games in one. Both as attractive as each other. The arcade football is as fine as you could possibly expect from the gameboy - harking strongly back to the days of Sensible Soccer and Kick Off on the ST & Amiga. On top of this you then have the delightful manager game - that has so much detail pack into it, you never need have a dull moment in your life ever again (don`t forget the gameboy`s pure portability).
But the game really comes into it`s own when the two games are spliced together in player manager mode. The manager game is watered down slightly, but playing with the team you have bought and trained up to your specifications is bliss in itself.
This game could just run and run - got as far as you can with one team? When pick another in a different league - and start all over again. Fancy a quick blast, play the aracde game. Want depth from a gameboy game, that is rarely seen in most psx games, let alone gb ones - play the management section.
I don`t know how they have done it - but this game is packed with football - and it deserves to do well.
