How long have we waited for a decent 'extreme' sporting game. years of waiting for a glimmer of light were ended by the release of tony hawks pro boarder. No longer were we forced to watch appauling games on the playstation, like cool boarders. And just when we thought we were saved it got better. Tony Hawk's 2 is awsome, Particulary when played on the Dreamcast. It is so smooth and the frame rate is awsome in comparison to the playstation. However it is not just the better graphics that sets tony hawks pro skater 2 above the rest.Thelevels, for example are better detailed and have more tasks to perform.(10 on each one.)They themselves are brilliant, giving you challenging tasks in order to keep you glued. The music is a masterpiece, with tunes from Rage against the machine, mellincolin and papa roach. Characters are more detailed and have more options, new moves, techniques and secret levels to find out have secured this game as a must buy |

I've been playing bames now for over seventeen years. I've owned most systems at one point or another. There are very few games that come along that I would regard as all time classics. School Daze on the Spectrum. Sonic on the Megadrive. Doom on the PC. And now, Tony Hawks 2. I've heard it's good across formats - I can safely say the Dreamcast version is amazing. The fact that you're given so much freedom over how you play is fantastic. You can assign which moves you wish for your skater to be able to perform. You can play a challenging career mode, or just skate for the pure pleasure of seeing how well you can do. There are many great areas for you to play about in, ranging from a disused aircraft hanger to busy city streets - complete with functioning subway tracks you can grind across. Just when you think you've found everything, you make a new leap of faith and a whole new area opens up - For example - Grind over the propeller in the half pipe on the first level to open a wind tunnel, or leap over the oncoming train and grind down the rails in New York to find a whole new area, complete with basketball court and a half built entry ramp. Every time you play, you'll find new tricks, new areas, new bonus moves. In career mode, you get points for pulling off certain stunts. These points can be used to train up your skater, or to buy new tricks, or even to get a better board. As you do this, your skater becomes able to access higher platforms, or balance better on rails - new tricks and areas open up. You'll catch fleeting glimpses of bonuses lurking in places you think you can never get to - and slowly you'll work out what to do. This game demands and rewards skillful play, making it immensley satisfying. It's highly addictive. You'll keep replaying the level - just trying to make that perfect leap and land in a grind before pulling off a heelflip that'll unlock a bonus score and rocket your highscore through the roof. I've not even mentioned the fact that you can design your own skater, or even the fact that you can make your own skate parks to ride in, and store them to the memory card. This game has serious longevity - and you can play against a friend. Buy this game. This is what gaming is all about - Freedom and fun. I cannot recommend it highly enough. |

I normally perfer games that you have to think about, like Final Fantasy series, but this game had me hooked in seconds. I loved it, i've seen other people play the first one, I had a go on it, and this version has better controls, and it looks sweet on the dreamcast. What can i say, better music, just better.....stop reading and go and get it. |
