I've played PSO offline for something like 240+ hours(one character 210,the other 30) and I'm still playing it,yes it's repetitive, like Diablo, but the constant urge to maybe find new/rare items is compulsive, you should know what this game is like by now...240 and counting!!! |

So that's why i'm writing this, because no matter how long you play it it will never ever get boring, to this day i love it and for all the right reasons too. Anything that you can think of, from graphics to gameplay, this game doesn't lack in any department... so what are you waiting for? BUY IT NOW! |

This game is still an essential Dreamcast purchase-still playable free online and compatible with the standard modem and the broadband adaptor. Best time to use it is in the evenings-more people are online then, so grab yourself a copy and get playing! |

An excellent online title, its FREE and still online!!!!!

Well, this game is trully excellent, and very challenging as well. Sure its not too difficult to complete on a normal difficulty, but after that, it gets tougher. This game isnt really designed for offline play in all truth, not in the obvious sense anyway, the only incentive for offline play really is to build up your character and unlock areas for play online, this game really shines online. having said that though its a pretty good game offline as well, but it wont have the lasting appeal that you would find when playing online. Many people belive that this game is now offline, well they are wrong, IT IS STILL ONLINE and it is free to play, unlike XBOX and Gamecube who charge you. Also, this game is compatible with the Dreamcast broadband adapter (you can import this from america or Japan) so even the broadband people have no excuse for this game. All in all a wonderful game....come on join in the fun, get that wonderful white box out and start playing....I guarantee you wont regret it |

Sick an tired of hype
(February 22, 2002) |

I am really tired in the way that so many magazines and people idealise this game. I mean, so what if you can create a character so unique you would be hard pushed to find his/her double online. I realise it is the first online console game (after chu chu rocket) but it is so limited in the way of its level design. For a start there are only four areas in the first version, which consist of three seperate areas each. The annoying thing is, that whenever you save and quit the game, when you load that save you have to unlock these areas again. You can not simply transport down to, for example Forest 2, from the moment you start in the lobby. This becomes increasingly irritating as the game advances and the only distractions are the quests, which are the best part of the game. The online part of the game, is initially enjoyable and it is fun to meet people from all over the world. This soon changes as the lobbies have been turned into giant chat rooms, where people talk about absolute nonsense. Then there are the player killers. These players cheat in every way possible, with any and every cheat cartridge available. The feeling of rage as another player kills you and takes all your items is simply indescribable. The system of collecting all the weird and wonderful weapons is dull as you simply have to slash your way through various quests and the same levels over and over in order to find them. Or you can get the weapon from a player killer. After you have played the game for a good few hours, you just wander aimlessly around the servers, looking for things to do. When you realise that there is no point to the quests and the majority of other players simply want to steal your items, you see the game for what it really is, an over-hyped joke. Overall the game is incredibly boring and is, in my opinion, a waste of time and money. |
