Mortal Kombat Gold
|
|
|
| Description:
Exclusive to the Dreamcast, Mortal Kombat Gold is the latest rendition of Midway's arcade classic fighter. Running at 60 frames per second with high-resolution graphics--a first for this series on any platform--the game boasts the look and feel of a quarter-munching upright arcade machine. The fighting system in this game is basically the same as it was in Mortal Kombat 3, with the addition of a few new characters and weapons and some subtle gameplay tweaks. There are several new gameplay modes that should excite Mortal Kombat and fighting-game fans. A new battle mode enables would-be combatants to select teams of multiple characters for team-based fighting. There is also a one and two-player endurance mode, a traditional "versus" mode, two-on-two fighting, and a practice mode. The latter explains to players how to perform fatalities but, disappointingly, doesn't let you perform them. With only minor updates, Mortal Kombat Gold falls back on its roots. It's a good game if you are an avid Mortal Kombat fan, though others may wish to consider starting their Dreamcast fighting game collection with Soul Calibur, Power Stone, Virtua Fighter 3 Team Battle and Street Fighter Alpha 3. --Todd Mowatt Pros: - Classic Mortal Kombat characters with updated features
- High-resolution graphics at 60 frames per second
- Additional gameplay modes increase replay ability
Cons: - Not much different from Mortal Kombat 3
- Characters are stiffly animated
- Background detail scant

Fight!

Play Mortal Kombat 4 and most will judge MKGold by it. But they're wrong. Mortal Kombat Gold has more characters, more stages, more blood. Mortal Kombat Gold is the mother of all fighting game and can easily compete with games of the present. A game like this will go down in history for years. Mortal Kombat made its success in 1992 with 7 characters. How I remember and loved them. Now there back, well except Kano but his ally Jareks there, and they look better than ever. each character has two fatalities which are not for the weak stomach. buy this game, you'll love it. |

The Mortal Kombat team has createda masterpiece. Everyone loved Mortal Kombat 4. It was the mother of all fighting games. Was. Now Mk4 has gone Gold with new fighters, new arenas, new weapon system, more blood. If you like Cyrax, Mileena, Kitana, Kung Lao, Baraka, Sonya, Jax, Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Sub-Zero, Reiko, Jarek, Raiden, Tanya, Scorpion, Kai, Reptile, Shinnok, Fujin and Quan Chi, this game is for you. Throw in three hidden characters, Goro, noob Saibot and Sektor and you have one bloody mess. This game is the best fighting game ever and is right up there with todays Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance. New interactive arenas, try picking up a rock and fireing it at your opponent, its fun! Including video endings, two fatalities per characters not including the stage fatalities. Buy this game, if you have the stomach for it.....:-D |

Mortal kombat gold kinda starts half way through mortal kombat 4 where quan chi and shinnok are trying once again to take over the world and rayden and the earth mortals are all that stands in their way. this verison of mortal kombat has 20 fighters, 15 from mortal kombat 4 and 5 returning from mk2 & 3 to make their 3d debut (baraka cyrax etc)plus a couple of hidden fighters the graphics and sound are far better than what the PS and n64 produced and when played very loud and on a large tv makes on of the best fighters around.Though the game has a few little problems firstly is the dreamcast pad i personnaly have had no problem using it but many have complained cause of its design and because of the lack of two buttons you have to press down and run to sidestep (but you never use that anyway) the another thing is sometime when doing some finishers the camara goes a bit dogdy and some characters are just rehashies of old characters like jarak is just kano but kano was cool anyway. Mortal kombat has kept its tradition of being the most gory and violent game around and is a must have for fighter fans. Let kombat begin!!! |

Mortal Kombat Gold
(February 11, 2001) |
|
A triumph in the Mortal Kombat series. With a superior machine such as the Dreamcast behind it, it wipes the floor in the 3D fight scene. From beginning to end it plays as well as the other Mortal Kombat games. Whether you chose to be any new characters or the old classics such as Sub-Zero the enjoyment is well balanced with simple moves for the beginners and more advanced ones for the experts. As usual the fatalities are more than well designed and the enjoyment of decapitating your opponent at the end of the combat still lingers in the next fight. If you are looking for a game to take you off your feet, chose this one as it KO's all opposition |
