Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards (N64)
|
|
|
| Description:
That cute, little squishy guy is back in Kirby 64: the Crystal Shards all his pastel glory to sweeten up 2-D life on Nintendo 64. With 3-D games such as Perfect Dark and Donkey Kong 64 getting the bulk of attention among consumers, Kirby provides a fun change of pace for both young and experienced gamers who don't necessarily need all three dimensions to have fun. Young gamers will love the bright, colourful graphics in this game, which is 2-D with some 3-D foreground and background elements. Kirby is joined by plenty of friends who will aid in his quest to recover the pieces of an important shattered crystal. While the levels are a bit too easy for older gamers, the gameplay in Kirby 64 is original enough to entertain all ages. Kirby still has an appetite for enemies, sucking them up and spitting them out, but he can also swallow them, inheriting abilities such as fire and cutter. Also, Kirby can now combine enemy powers, often with hilarious results. For instance, electricity plus stone turns Kirby into an electrifying little light bulb. Sure, all these powers aren't necessary to play the game, but they're a lot of fun. --Robb Guido

Too Cute - Very Playable
(August 22, 2001) |

This Game is so cute when playing it you will need a sick bag at your side. Apart from that this game has some very good gameplay in and brilliant ideas for bosses and things. The idea of combining powers to kill your opponents is an idea which has been excellently implemented. This game may be slightly easy but it may take a long time to finish and get all the crystal shards and find all the secrets. Of course if you get all the shards you will be pleaseantly suprised. |

Great game!

Our whole family enjoys this game. There are some very clever ideas in it, such as when he collects electricity and ice and turns into a refrigerator which throws food to kill his enemies. The graphics are simplistic, but then it's not meant to be a 3-D action game. Maybe the reviewer from Cincinnati was expecting a different game, but this is just cute and lots of fun. |

Poor Poor Poor
(February 22, 2001) |

I thought this game looked reasonably good from what i had seen in magazines. It looked as if it had good graphics and looked fun. When i play tested this a few days ago i was horrified. The game is lously put together and the graphical detail is appauling. Don't waste your time playing this game!!!!!!!! |
