Thunderbirds

|
| Description:
The Thunderbirds are back, and this time with the advent of the computer, have found themselves on the Game Boy Color. Commanding all the vehicles from the Thunderbirds series, including the Mole and FAB 1, Thunderbirds offers any fan the chance to drive, fly and even dig their way out of the most difficult situations. Based around the technology of parallax scrolling, the gameplay is viewed from the top down or from side to side as you race against the clock to save hostages, disarm bombs and anything else the evil hood can throw at you. Throughout the 18-plus levels across six different environments, there are plenty of opportunities for assistant, and with three different difficulty levels, the game can ease you into the action at your own speed. Within the levels, help is offered by talking to Thunderbird 5, or merely getting a tip on where to head next, and allows you get yourself unstuck without spoiling the game. The graphics for Thunderbirds are your standard cute Game Boy graphics and its great fun to see Virgil, Scott and the rest of the gang ordering you around at the start of each mission. Whether you are a Thunderbirds fan or not, this game is great fun, and with differently styled missions, there enough here to keep any a fickle player entertained. --Stuart Miles

This is huge fun, puts all my other GBC games in the shade. The graphics are superb, the gameplay addictive, the music great fun - the whole package completely captures the atmosphere of Thunderbirds. |

Excellent graphics, Excellent gamplay, and far too addictive. My little lad takes the game everywhere at the moment to stop me from playing it so he can have a go himself!!!!!! |

Sorry, Weak Gameplay

I quite like retro-style platform games (8 bit style) so thought I'd try Thunderbirds GBC after seeing a good review of it. What a disappointment! The gameplay is very weak and uninvolving. I'm a fan of the Nintendo Mario series on Gameboy, so have highish standards, but Thunderbirds was really no fun at all. Completing many of the stages is just haphazard luck which makes it very uninvolving. As someone else wrote, the game uses a password system to control the levels you can access. This would not be so bad, but the "passwords" are pictures! SO you have to draw them on pieces of paper ans try to remember the colours of the spaceships. Poor! I've watched the re-run Thunderbirds TV series which I've enjoyed. I really wanted to like this game but gave up on it after finishing the training stages and a coupleof the levels. It was just no fun to play. When gameplay is poor, graphics and sound become irrelevant. Sorry, but a big thumbs down. I either love a game or hate a game, so 1 star only for this one. |

Well I have to agree with the comment below - this game is not for any platform fans. I wish I had known a little bit more about it before buying... The graphics are good yes, but it is more of a stratgy game I suppose, you don't even really get to shoot things up. It would be useful if you could save your way through the game, instead you get passwords which comprise of heads and thunderbird ships, which make it very difficult to get the passwords to input correctly. You would have to really know your thunderbirds stuff I guess. Basically if you want a platformer or even shoot/beat -em upper then don't go for this. Get Mario or Warioland instead... |

Thunderbirds is a useless game. So the graphics are good! Who cares about graphics, its the playability, and this cartridge has none! |
