Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (GameCube)
|
|
|
| Description:
Just as the Harry Potter movies seem to be getting better with each sequel, so to the games have been improving with every new release. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire shows every sign of being the best yet with a greater emphasis on playing all the characters and not just Harry. Harry, Ron, and Hermione are all playable (and they look like the actors from the film too) and each has their own special abilities, strengths and weakness. These can be augmented by collecting and using Collector's and Creature Cards as well, almost like a proper role-playing game. Perhaps the games greatest draw though, other than much improved graphics, is the co-operative mode which allows you to play all the way through the game with up to two friends joining in. There'll be no arguments over who gets to be Harry either as everyone has to work together with the most powerful spells only being possible by everyone combining their powers. The spell casting itself works in a different way than before with the analogue controllers being used to move your wand around on screen--you can even feel it shake as the rumble pack of your controller kicks in. Harry haters still won't enjoy this on principle, and to be honest it's neither the most original or difficult game ever made, but for fans of the films and books it looks absolutely wizard. -- Harrison Dent This preview is based on an incomplete version of the game; features or problems mentioned above may not appear in the finished game.

Not too bad at all......

I will always enjoy a Potter game, and of course looked forward to the Goblet of Fire. And low and behold, I'm not entirely disappointed. Although the games will never get 5/5 in my mind, 3 stars is good enough for me. Goblet of Fire is the second best game in the series. It's not quite as good as Azkaban, for one reason alone. Hogwarts Castle. Theres o room for exploration in the latest game, so we don't get any depth of plot or character that the game needs, and what Azkaban provides in bucket loads. PLOT- 7/10 - Good. But as highlighted above, lacks the depth of both the book and the game. It would have been nice to see some subplots shine through. SOUND/MUSIC - 9/10 Acting is good enough, and the music is lovely and well suited. Ralph Fiennes also voicing Voldemort here is an added bonus :) GRAPHICS: 8/10 Clean and crisp, and good looking. The style of the vidoes is also intriguing. LEVELS: 5/10 Apart from the odd exploration level, and the 1st and 3rd tasks, the levels seem good, but become lacklustre, dull and repetitive. LASTING APPEAL: 4/10 You might want to play it again, but not all of it, and just for the Potter factor alone. IE You'll only play it again if you're a Potter-head. Collecting beans and cards just isn't interesting enough. OVERALL: 36/50. 3 stars |

Harry's goblet runs dry.

Taking on the role of either Harry, Ron or Hermoine, battle through several challenges in and around the Hogwarts grounds in order to triumph in the Triwizard Tournament and ultimately survive the wrath of the evil Lord Voldemort. This game is hardly the most challenging or original of the series, nor is it the best (I still think that accolade goes to the Prisoner of Azkaban), but it's a must for all Harry fans and kids will love it. |

THE WORST HARRY POTTER GAME EVER!!!!!
(December 28, 2005) |
|
Being a masive harry potter fan i couldnt wait for this game to be released, but i was extremely disappointed in it. All you do for about the first 45 minutes is cast spells at salamanders and collect triwizard sheilds. Unlike the first three games you can't roam around hogwarts or do little side quests. The new spell casting system is rubbish as the game chooses which spell you use. At the the start of each level you coose which character you want to be an cant swap between the characters like in the Prisoner of Azkaban. My advice is dont waste your money on a boring game. |

harry potter the 4th game
(December 13, 2005) |

This game is very good if you have friends to play multiplayer with, but i found that the game was a bit to short. It was a really nice concept but i missed the ability to roam around hogwarts like you could on the previous Harry potter games. In the end i found this game to repeat itself alot. Very good game but a bit short for such a good book. |
