V.good for 5-8 yr old girls
(March 21, 2006) |
|
I bought this for one of my daughters and now cannot get her off my Xbox. The game is simple but is just right for a young girl who is not interested in racing, simulation or fighting - as is common with most other Xbox games. I would highly recommend this to anyone with girls between the ages of 5 & 8 years old - in fact I would say it is the only game on the market for this platform for young girls. |

Halo 2 beater
(February 27, 2005) |
|
People say, "Half-Life 2 is a Halo beater" or, "KillZone is a Halo 2 beater" or, "Killer7 is a Halo 2 beater" or even, "The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou is a Halo 2 beater" but they are fools. Barbie Horse Adventure (Xbox) is a Halo 2 beater. Every single aspect of this game is superiour to Halo 2. The shotgun hasn't been ludicrously tamed in this game at least. I was playing this game with Wolverine the other day, and he remarked that playing this game was, "One of the most enjoyable times I've ever had". |

Excellent - well, for it's target market :)

This is actually a pretty good game. It "borrows" ideas from several other titles (there's nothing new here). The main game elements are essentially Tomb Raider (on foot exploration, simple "push blocks" puzzles and ladder/ledge climbing) with elements from Driver/GTA (get on and off horses rather than into and out of cars!), Metal Gear (distract animals with apples to stealth past them) and standard platform fare (collect coins, enjoyable mini-games to relieve monotony of collecting coins!). All wrapped up with a simplified control system (your horse automatically jumps when galloping and you can't fall off ledges). The graphics are actually pretty good. It isn't going to out-shine the top XBox games but the landscapes are pretty lush/solid with some nice touches (eg can see breath when cold). The draw distance is decent and clipping/popup is minimal. The sound is also excellent (apart from the obligatory "over enthusiastic" Barbie voice and slightly bland music). Gameplay-wise this kept my little 'un enthralled for hours (literally). Couldn't get her off it - she is desparate to rescue more horses to ride and earn coins to get new outfits (for both Barbie and the horse - in fact, dressing up is a whole game in itself). In terms of replay this is gonna last a while. The main game is pretty good (I'd say 10 hours of play) but you can go back to trails to get outfits/coins/horses you missed first time round and there are even some well thought our mini-games that you can play separately (racing, coin collecting, horse lasso and seagull scaring!). You can even play some cooperatively and competitively. Pretty adult features for a kids' game! My only real criticism is the horse could turn slightly faster and with more fluidity (it can be hard to line up jumps and/or squeeze through narrow gaps). Then again, a real horse would be much harder than this! If looked at as an adult game it probably deserves the 6 or 7 out of 10 it seems to be getting in the press, but if you have a little girl aged 6 to 10, who is into horses (sadly they all are!) they'll absolutely love this and the controls are about the right level with only minimal supervision/help required. Excellent! |

I bought this game for my daughter and she was very disspointed. The graphics made my laugh they were so bad. The gameplay was dull, sounds was terrible. A waste of money. |
