Featuring over 50 songs this time around, including contributions from high-profile acts such as Kylie Minogue, Chaka Khan and S Club, Dancing Stage Party Edition is a welcome and expansive addition to the popular dance game franchise. First things first, though: don't even think of trying to play it without a dance mat peripheral--you can tackle the game using the standard PlayStation or PS2 controller, but there's little point. The game works by throwing up symbols on screen, which indicate where you need to move your feet (or your fingers if you're determined not to get a mat). Effectively it's as simple as that. Consistently have your feet where they're supposed to be, when they're supposed to be there, and your score will be high. Keep messing it up, and you boogie will have a habit of ending prematurely. The complications are injected when the tempo is upped, and the game demands that you simply move quicker to keep up. But even when the game's sheer novelty factor is exhausted, there's plenty of reason to keep going thanks to the gradually increasing challenge that it presents. And frankly, Dancing Stage Party Mix is as compulsively entertaining as its predecessors. It particularly hits top gear when two players can dance head to head--though this requires two dance mats. Even the fitness-tailored single player workout mode works well. The game's only real limit comes when you've worked your way through all the songs, and even then it's going to take some time to do that. Aside from that, this is polished, very enjoyable fun that virtually all gamers can warm to. --Simon Brew

here's a tip

firstly, the workout mode is the most fun as you can just keep going without having to push a button to replay or skip to the next level. secondly, and this is my MAIN point, unless you are playing this game on the GROUND FLOOR, please be very careful about not upsetting the neighbours underneath ur floor (their ceiling) as they may hear ur stomping as ur playing and this can be very annoying to them, especially if they're trying to sleep. my advice is to either play the game when you know they'll be OUT or talk with them to arrange a suitable time when you can play. i'm not trying to be a killjoy, it's a great game (rated it 5 stars) and i hope you have a really nice time playing it but PLEASE be courteous to your neighbours, especially the ones living underneath, WHILST playing it |

Yes, it's true! I'm almost 30, and put on a lot of weight last year. Since dieting didn't work for me, I thought I'd have a go at the arcades on the dance mats, and was hooked, so bought it for my PSOne. I do the workout mode for 20 minutes 3 times a week, and was stunned to realise that in less than 3 months, the weight had fallen off me! It's really good exercise, and VERY addictive!
Only disappointment was that I don't recognise most of the tunes, but it's still good fun anyway. Also, if you are like me and want to really work out on it, I would recommend a metal arcade style dance mat as I have a plastic dance mat which is not ideal for working on the faster tunes. |

The most fun you'll ever have with a PS game

Are you a big fan of computer games, but fearful of the activity you are missing out on as you stare at that screen? This is the perfect solution; simply plug the dance mat into your PS1 or 2 console and keep fit as you play. With childhood (and indeed adult) obesity on the increase, partly caused by too many hours in front of the television or playing computer games, activity levels need to drastically increase and this is one purchase that will help, as well as providing a lot of fun for the player. The game itself is, in my opinion, much better value for money than its predecessor, Dancing Stage Euromix. There are a whopping 51 tracks for you to choose from and some of them are taken from Euromix, anyway, so you would be far better off buying this game. There are various game play modes, from your standard Game Mode to Training Mode, where you can brush up on your dancing skills step by step, and Workout Mode, which contains a handy calorie counter if you wish to keep track of how much you are burning off, so to speak. Indeed, there is so much choice within this game that virtually any playing options are possible: you can assemble numerous four-track playlists that will run without breaks while you dance, or even create a dance of your own to one of the tracks, although this feature is quite difficult to grasp. The tracks are, on the whole, very enjoyable and varied. As well as the classics from the arcades, such as "End of the century" and "Paranoia" there are chart favourites like "Don't stop movin'" by S Club 7 and "The bad touch" by the Bloodhound Gang. There are also quite a lot of hidden tracks which can be uncovered after considerable dancing success, and most of these are well worth a listen. Dancing Stage Party Edition is practically flawless. I would, however, advise you to buy a hard dance mat, as the soft ones seem to have limited endurance; mine has taken on a life of its own and sometimes keys do not work, but this may be due to my ever increasing in exertion dance sessions as I work my way up the levels of difficulty... in fact, I may just be addicted to this fantastic game. |

I think that Dancing Stage Party Mix is definatly the best out of the Konami Series. It has more songs to dance to than any of the other games. This was the first dance mat game i have ever had and until buying another dance mat game with fewer tracks on you dont realise how good it is. It kept me amused for months trying to dance through all the songs and levels! Its also one of the best things to get couch potatoes like myself to exercise in front of the tv and have mega fun! Its even better when i ahve my m8s round and we can all have competiton to see whos the best dancer! Its the moat fun you can have staying indoors when its tipping down of rain outside!! |

Great songs

This game has very good songs, some you've heard on euromix or in the charts and some u haven't. My fave is B4U on beginner, maniac cuz of the groovy jumps in thr middle. The only bad thing is the format, it is very slow to select a song and the i miss the old format where its like a jukebox. But buy it anyway for the great new songs and moves. |
