Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 (PC)
|
|
|
| Description:
When you are creating the sequel to what many felt was 1999's game of the year, there is a lot of pressure to outdo your past glory. The guys at Neversoft, makers of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, appear up for the challenge. For starters, people who have mastered Tony Hawk's Pro Skater will be able to take their skills to a new level. A new trick called a manual allows players to balance on the forward or rear trucks of the skateboard. Manuals bridge other already established moves and combos, making it possible to rack up bigger scores than ever before, therefore adding a whole new level of challenge for veteran players. In the original game, an open space between rails, bowls, cars or ramps provided a small breather and a chance to survey your surroundings. This time you will be encouraged to manual between such spots, thereby increasing your point total. Overall, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 serves up extra helpings of some very nice goodies. Better characters, and more of them: the original models look sick compared to the larger skaters and better textures of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2. There are also new playable characters: Steve Caballero, Eric Koston and Rodney Mullen have been added to the cast. More locations with new scenes are carved out of New York, the Skatestreet in Ventura, California, as well as updated locales in Miami and Philadelphia. There is a total of eight--all big, all bold. The park creator is back in the new game, and Neversoft has also added a create-a-player feature so you can enhance the existing pros, turning them into new skaters. Also, a new customisation system lets you skate to earn enough money for new duds and accessories. Features like this, added to what returns from last year, make Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 a must-have for anybody on the planet. --Todd Mowatt

Tony Hawk's pro skater is everything that that you could wish for. From the Hangar, school, contest 1,new york, venice beach, and three others it is time to bite your nails off when you reach Skate Heaven.Once you have reached Skate Heaven it never ends if you have a friend who does community service then ask him to clean the pipes so you can pick up some speed and get killer points,if your lucky.my favourite level is chopper drop where you are dropped out of a chopper and on to a half-pipe in the middle of the sea in the middle of Hawii. |

THE GAME NO HOUSEHOLD SHOULD BE WITHOUT!!
(October 23, 2001) |

I have always been a keen fan of skateboarding, and Tony Hawk has a touch of class when it comes to vert skating. I bought Tony Hawk's 2 thinking that it would be an ordinary game that would sit on my shelf, but I soon learnt that big presents come in small packages, even the size of a Playstation game case. After entering the career mode, I saw why this game had been credited in many magazines. I selected one of the carefully created skaters, and went on to play a game. I turned up the volume to hear Papa Roach screaming out of the speakers and Tony Hawk's backside glaring me in the face. I pressed the "X" button and saw myself heading towards the half pipe in front of me. I was amazed at the graphics of this highly playable game. The quality of this game was so good that, although I had beaten everyone on the original Tony Hawk's, it still took me a month to complete the second (without any cheats!). Tony Hawk's has reached out to every age group. The game is so highly playable and easy to pick up. Unlike most games, you don't have to sit down and read a boring manual, you just take a glance at the controls and you're playing one of the best Playstation games ever. The smoothness of this game beats any other, and the attention to detail is extreme. Every skater has his or her individual body shape, with amazing facial details. The textures of the skate parks were amazing, and the layout of the ready-made skate parks were outstanding. The idea of being able to create your own skater was a brilliant idea, as was the making of your own skate park. This allowed the game to be endless. Let's face it; you can't grind the same rail forever. In Tony Hawk's 2, you earn money to buy decks, trucks and wheels, and most importantly, tricks that earn you high scores that, if put into dollars, would make you richer that Neversoft itself!!! Tony Hawk's 2 outdoes Thrasher, MTV skateboarding and every other skateboarding game. There is not a single fault that I could find in Tony Hawk's 2, and I give Neversoft full marks for producing such entertainment. Tony Hawk's 3 is soon to be released, and I strongly suggest that you buy it, as it is sure to be an absolute thriller!!! Well done Tony Hawk, another competition that you have won. |

Best game ever
(June 15, 2001) |

This is the best game ever, even better the mgs! The game play is the same as it always was.....adictive! The graphics are improved and the sound track is out of this world. The park editor is not just rushed add on but could nearly be a game itself. Some may find this game hard but stick at it as with rewards such as over 15 videos, over 15 cheats and 3 hidden characters it is worth it. And did i mention 2 player, 4 different mode and many of the secret areas still included, need I go on......just buy it |

No more grazed knees and bloody elbows...
(May 30, 2001) |

Yes, it's true... No more grazed knees and bloody elbows when you try to pull you 360 Melons with a Kickflip McTwist added for "Ooommff" value. You can now do LOADS of "rad" and "bodacious" tricks on Tony Hawk's 2 without having to risk a trip to A&E! This game is easily the best skateboarding game so far. Enough has been said about the gameplay (Which is easy to learn but hard to master), I wan't to focus on the finishing touches. For example, the music... What can I say about the music? Heard of Rage Against The Machine? Yes, simply mentioning the might of Zack's political lyrics in "Guerilla Radio" gives a real idea of the skate scene. However, if you don't like skate punk etc etc whatever it's called, then don't worry as many a Hip-Hop artist has been included JUST FOR YOU 8). Enough on music, now to graphics... OK, it's from a Playstation game, but that doesn't mean it's got the sh**y blocky visuals, OH NO sir-re bob! When playing the game you don't notice them, but when it's you watching the action it seems soooo cool. The distances blend fairly well. However, none of this will have interested you in the slightest so I'll shut up now. Oh yeah, 1 last thing... BUY THE GAME NOW!!! No matter what sort of gamer you are, I guarantee (OK, don't come after me with pitch-forks if you don't like it... please?) that you will enjoy this... Need I say more? No... methinks my job is done... |
